In september 1994, Michael de Miranda started the samba percussion school Sambalanço. His goal was to introduce percussion music to as many people as possible, and to let them perform throughout the country. His inspiration was mainly derived from Brazil. (which is famous for its samba and numerous samba schools). The compositions by Michael are mainly based on Brazilian musical culture, but Cuban and (West) African influences are also heard in the colorful arrangements. Sambalanço plays samba batucada, samba-reggae, afoxé, maracatu, timbalada, maculele en baiao. The performances by Sambalanço are well known by their viewing and listening pleasure, but above all, their inevitable dancing enjoyment.
